Visit your local licensing office and pick up the drivers handbook to study. It’s free and has all of the info you need. You will need to go back to that licensing office (or any other) after you have studied the manual and write the test to get your beginners license. This is the one that will allow you to practice driving with another licensed driver. After that, if you want, take a driving course through Young Drivers of Canada or a similar driving school and you will get practice behind the wheel.
When you are ready you book a road test through the license office and if you pass that they will give you the first level license on the graduated scale in Ontario.
Get your G1 first. It’s the written test that asks you about like road signs and driving laws.
You need to bring ID that proves your legal name, date of birth (must state the day, month and year of birth) and signature.
You can only drive with a G1 if you have a licensed driver in the front seat with you.
After you get your G1, either go to a driving school (Young Drivers is a popular one) or learn on your own.
If you take government approved driving lessons, you can get your G2 in 8 months. If you learn on your own, you can get your G2 after a year.
You do a driving test, and if you pass it you’re granted a G2. You can drive with a G2, but between midnight and 5AM you’re only allowed a certain number of teenagers in the car.
Anyways, after a year, you do another driving test where if you pass, you get your “G” license which is a full license.
