What is the cheapest make of car to insure for a first car?

I am 17 and about to buy my first car, and i am thinking of a renault clio, as this is quite cheap to insure. But does anyone know any other make of car that is cheaper to insure, for a first car?

  1. it’s not to do with the make..

if it’s a clio , make sure it don’t have the bonet release problem as featured on watchdog.. your driving and the hood pops open..

it’s to do with where you live… off road parking… your age… and the engine size.. you have to get a small engine size. it’ll be impossible and price to insure anything expensive with a big engine..

my first car.. £500.. the insurance was £500.. 18 years later.. got a faster car.. but insurance isn’t exactly cheap still..

you have to amass no claim points =)

  2. It’s not necessarily the car it’s more to do with engine size so keep under a 1litre then they will all be roughly the same to insure.

    Good luck ; )

  3. I think you would be best of with a smaller engine that way its cheaper.. i.e a 1.1 1.3

  4. anything around a 1litre with alarm immobiliser garaged ect will be cheaper but shop around there are insurers who specialise in young people look on the internet and get a quote don’t just jump in
    hope this helps

  5. It’s all to do with insurance groups, 1 being the lowest and 20 being the highest.

Go on and select a car or the insurance group you want to get an idea.

    Good luck.

A Clio will be cheap, so will be a Metro. Anything small like a Panda will be even cheaper especially if you get third party only.
You can get a couple of free quotes here
