The F-150 FX4 can be had with an E-locker. But the conventional limited slip mechanism ( Trac-Loc ) is no great shakes, and probably about as effective as the GM unit.
If the limited slip is working, you will be able to nail the gas on wet pavement (or dirt/gravel) and take off in a relatively straight line rather than doing donuts, or getting drug down the road sideways as one wheel spins madly.
What is it that you aren’t impressed by?
What do you think the Ford rear-end is going to gain you?
You might be able to upgrade to a better one (but I would stick with Chevy or a third-party rather than using Ford parts in a Chevy truck - that’s approaching blasphemy where I live).
You might also need to upgrade your suspension to get the results you are looking for.
keep the chevy
try a 10 bolt or a 12 bolt chev diff before you go to a ford 9 inch.
use a ford 9 inch w/locker, its bullet proof
chevys are better/but does your work??do you know how to check it??
