What kind of fuel should I use for a Suzuki Savage 650cc?
It is a single engine 650cc bike. I have used High Octane premium gas at 91 octane rating, but heard that I should use regular lower octane fuel for a higher burning engine. Currently I am experiencing back fires, stalls, and burned a whole tank of gas after only going about 40 miles. Any thoughts?

Never trust what you heard. Go to the dealer and get some professional help. Never trust your mates. Plus if you wreck it you have no warranty if you follow your mates instructions. The dealer knows go ask him or even email them.
i use high octane 93 for a CBR600RR. I would say read the owners manual or take it to a shop and get it checked out. If your bike sat too long with out being started the fuel could have clogged the carborator.
I always use the highest I can buy, but there may be some carb adjusting/fuel injection mapping issues at work if you change gas octanes suddenly… The time at which the mixture ignites properly will change drastically from octane to octane.
Regular gas will burn more efficiently . It sounds to me like you have other problems, though. Try a complete tune-up including new air filter. Check the boots between the carb and jug for leaks. An older bike might need the carb boiled out, as well.
I have always run Premium Unleaded at 93 octane in all mine. Never had problems from the gas. I second bluff michael’s opinion. You have other issues.
