Ive never spent time around newer small engine aircraft. Do they use any sort of Electronic Control Modules (like in a car) to monitor fuel pressure/ manifold pressure/ engine temps…etc. for peak performance?
I meant computers that monitor and change engine performance..like in any modern car.

Sure it is called the PD or Primary Display where in engine parameters are displayed such as fuel pressure, oil pressure, N1 , N2 and even vibration.

I assume you’re talking about commercially available production single engine piston planes. No, they have fuel injection but it’s similar to the mechanical fuel injection cars had in the 60’s and early 70’s. There are conversions for electronic fuel injection for experimental aircraft but it’s very basic, nothing like the cars today.

The current generation turbo fan engines use an “electronic engine control” EEC, just like a car. FADEC Full Authority Digital Engine Control .

BTW the PD (primary display) doesn’t show any engine parameters. You’re thinking of EICAS (Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting System) which is a different screen.
